4 Pleasant Street: A Retrospective is the first full-scale retrospective of the artist Vanessa Platacis in 10 years. Co-organized by the Cambridge Arts Council and curator Geoff Hargadon, this 16' x 40' installation brings together dozens of her most definitive paintings. This retrospective showcases the paintings that have exhibited internationally as part of her body of work under the pseudonym PIXNIT. Other noteworthy highlights include the iconic floral element that is seen repeatedly throughout her work.
The artist's expansive practice is represented by dozens of her signature hand drawn and cut stencils. In 4 Pleasant Street she has unified years of paintings with a monochromatic color palette that also honors the location and historic brick work of the architecture. Bringing together multi-cultural patterns in one unified composition that reflects her contribution to the history of street art, painting and performance in Boston.

12 W. State Street is a painting installation that spans the facade of a three story building in downtown Savannah, GA. The first public work of its kind in the historic district, the building is the former home Dr. William R. Waring, a notable physician and former mayor of Savannah (1830-1832).
Like many other historic buildings, it was originally constructed with brick and later covered over with stucco. The monochromatic wall painting features a floral pattern with an integrated rosette, an architectural element found on buildings throughout historic Savannah, GA.

Spore Project
2005 - 2010
By combining the history of the decorative arts, architectural ornament, ironwork and wallpaper, the anonymous artist known as PIXNIT, hand-draws and cuts stencils she calls “Spores”...
Reproductive mechanisms adapted for dispersal in unfavorable conditions. Drawn with a knife, a template is used to create mass-produced public paintings.
The Spore Project is an investigation into floral and ornamental design historically used within the home to create a sense of comfort, bring representations of nature indoors and portray a sense of beauty.
These paintings are installed outdoors and in direct dialogue with architecture. The interior and exteriors of space are subverted and the urban landscape transformed.
Moving beyond the stretched canvas the template is not only evidence of the painting process but also a performative art object. Leaving the ephemeral paintings themselves to exist through the memories of the viewer and PIXNIT Productions documentary process.
